Leon is the debt advisory specialist at Cognos Netherlands. He joined the Cognos Netherlands team in 2021 after working in the field of debt advisory for more than 15 years. At Cognos Netherlands, Leon advises clients on complex financing issues, restructurings, company valuations, company sales, and acquisitions. In addition, Leon is a chartered valuator (Register Valuator in Dutch).

Experience

Leon has worked in the field of debt advisory since 2006. Prior to joining Cognos Netherlands, he was a Senior Project Manager of Acquisition Finance and Structured Lending at ING. During his time at ING, Leon advised a large number of business owners, management teams, and investors of companies on complex financing issues, such as Management Buyouts (MBO), Management Buy-ins (MBI), Leveraged Buyouts, Acquisition Finance, and other financing issues.

Leon joined Cognos Netherlands as the director of debt advisory in 2021. He became a shareholder of Cognos Netherlands in 2022.

As the director of debt advisory, he primarily advises owners of national and international medium sized and smaller companies on acquisition financing and other financing issues. Leon also advises business owners on restructurings, company valuations, company sales, and acquisitions.

In addition to acquisition financing, restructurings, and valuations, Leon also has extensive experience in developing buy-and-build strategies. Since joining Cognos Netherlands in 2021, he has worked on several buy-and-build strategies across various sectors.

Education

Leon holds a degree in Commercial Economics from Avans University of Applied Sciences. In addition, in 2020, he completed the postgraduate degree in Business Valuation from TIAS University with distinction. After completing the postgraduate degree, Leon was sworn in as a chartered valuator (Register Valuator in Dutch).

Life drives and passions

In his free time, he enjoys playing various sports, such as diving, golf, football, and cross-fit.
